Our Story
Since 2020
Genesis Apparel began in 2020 when I launched it as part of my studies. After completing that semester, I decided to continue it independently. Since then, it has been my way of combining creativity and faith and helping to build the Kingdom of God.
The face behind the brand
My name is Jan Freerk Schilstra, a graphic designer and proud Frisian. I run Genesis Apparel for and with the Lord. This brand is my way of combining creativity and faith, inspiring young people to wear their faith visibly. I believe that forgiveness and redemption await everyone who accepts Jesus' sacrifice, so we do everything we can to spread the gospel.
Mission & Vision
Genesis Apparel is an independent Christian clothing brand that aims to encourage and empower young people. Our designs are vibrant, biblically informed, and uniquely developed for Genesis Apparel. Each garment is produced ethically and sustainably. In everything we do, we strive to let His Light shine and touch hearts with His Love. Based on the Word, we are building a brand that is honest, sustainable, and innovative, and that actively contributes to spreading the Good News .
Our Products
Our clothing combines a powerful message with honest, green, and sustainable production. The shirts we print come from a company that leads the way in sustainable and ethical clothing production. We print each shirt ourselves, ensuring each design comes to life with care and precision. We then ship the clothing in FSC-certified, 100% recycled (22 PAP) shipping bags, which, with their print, communicate faith even during transport. This way, each garment not only arrives to you with care for people and the environment, but also carries the message of the Gospel further into the world.
"Our" story?
Genesis Apparel has only one employee: me. But thankfully, I don't have to do this alone! I run the brand for and with the Lord; without Him, Genesis Apparel would have been long gone. Over the years, the brand has been on the back burner for several periods, times when I considered quitting. When I laid it before God and asked what He wanted me to do, I received clear guidance. Sometimes just in my bedroom, sometimes during special moments. I trust that He is charting the path for Genesis Apparel, and I follow with confidence.
